Nikaweratiya

      There are several other students in our university in Nikaweratiya.  We talked for many days and we talked about going to Nikaweratiya that day.  Nipun from Kantale, Dilshan Rideemaliyadda from Kebethigollewa, Akila and Anuradha and I from Kegalle all came to Nikaweratiya.We arrived in Warakapola town, boarded a bus from Colombo via Route 57 to Anuradhapura, reached padeniya and from there went to Pavina Akka's house and then to Janani Akka's house in Millagoda, Nikaweratiya.

     Nipun, Dilshan and Akila were there when Anuradha and I went there.  We stayed at Janani Akka's house for a while and then came to Magalla Wewa area.  We visited the Magallawewa area and returned home. The next day we all came together to Erandi's house in Yapahuwa.  There too we met a large number of friends and we all came to visit the ancient fort of Yapahuwa.


     From Yapahuwa we returned to Daladagama and from there we boarded a Kurunegala powered bus to Padeniya and from Padeniya to Puttalam and back to Nikaweratiya. 



     The next day we left for home and arrived in Kurunegala and from there I boarded a bus from  Horovpothana on Route 15 to Colombo and reached my home in Warakapola.

The bus service from Embilipitiya to Mawanella in the Sabaragamuwa Province is the longest bus route in a single province.  Although it runs very long distances between provinces, this is the longest distance run in a single province.  The route number is 69 and a bus from Embilipitiya to Mawanella is operated by SLTB Rambukkana Depot and a bus by Manchanayake Company at normal service rates.  Ruwanpura has also deployed an intercity bus under luxury services.  Buses ply from Mawanella to Embilipitiya at 6.20 am, 9.40 am and 3.20 pm.  Buses will leave Embilipitiya at 8.10 am, 1.00 pm and 3.50 pm.  A bus from Embilipitiya to Mawanella takes approximately 6 hours.  From Mawanella it is possible to reach Embilipitiya by traversing Utuwankanda, Kegalle, Ranwala, Galigamuwa, Kotiyakumbura, Ruwanwella, Karawanella, Dehiowita, Panawala, Eheliyagoda, Kuruwita, Ratnapura, Pelmadulla, Kahawatta, Godakawela, Pallebedda and Walawa.

 I started playing the flute 2 years ago.  Among the many musical instruments, I learn the flute because of its sound.  Of course, it's not just a sound, it's a feeling, I think.   Bansuri is considered to be the first wind instrument.  People used it for communication purposes thousands of years ago.  It is made of bamboo.  Bansuri's rhythmic melody opens us up to the beautiful sounds of nature such as flowing water, the sound of the wind and the birds.  Jaffna is the main city of Jaffna peninsula in the northernmost district of Sri Lanka. Comfortable intercity busses from Colombo take 10-12 hours to reach the city of Jaffna. Sri Lanka Navy runs a passenger boat service off Jaffna peninsula to the Island of Nagadeepa where the ancient Nagadeepa Buddhist temple is located. Jaffna is the capital city of the Northern Province, Sri Lanka. 85% of the populations of the Jaffna and Kilinochchi districts are Hindus. The Hindus follow the Saivite tradition. The remainders are largely Roman Catholics or Protestants, some of whom are descendants of colonial settlers, known as Burghers. The Tamils are divided along caste lines, with the farmer-caste Vellalar forming the majority. Sea products, red onion, and tobacco are the main products in Jaffna.
